Last April 30, 2016 at early 5:00 o’clock in the morning, St. Michael’s College participate “BAKLAY for a cause”. This walk for a cause was organized by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible voting (PPCRV) of Iligan, a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-profit group that runs independently from any political affiliations whose objective is to ensure free, fair and fraud-free elections and the responsible use of the Filipino’s “Right to vote”.
BAKLAY stands for Botar Alang sa Kaugmaon ug Lihok Alang sa Yanong Katawhan. This activity calls for the renewal of the social and political fabric of the ailing society and enjoins every concerned individual to walk with other participating groups from different sectors, non-government organization (NGO), and local government unit (LGU) including the police and the military and also the clergy. The participants also called on the voting public not to sell their votes as printed on their t-shirts: “My vote is not for sale”.
This activity was headed by the Bishop of Iligan, Most Rev. Elenito D. Galido, D.D.
This activity soars to express its stand for a clean and honest election this coming May 9, 2016.
St. Michael's College of Iligan City, a Catholic institution of higher learning in Iligan City, administered by the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), offering four levels of education: elementary, secondary, tertiary and graduate school.
